The garden at our Carine village came to life on Saturday evening with the first outdoor movie night taking place. Residents invited their family and friends along to enjoy a tasty dinner, a game or two and watch Paper Planes under the stars.
Saturday was a funny day weather-wise in Perth, with the humidity slightly higher than normal and the clouds darkening in the early afternoon. There were concerns that there would be rain as the outdoor movie started, but Mother Nature was in full-support of the evening going off without a hitch – we were even treated to a beautiful sunset of pinks and orange.
Showcase Catering were on hand to ensure the bellies of over seventy guests were full, offering their dinner menu as well as an array of treats for during the movie. Children ran wild across the gardens- some attempted a game of chess on the life-sized board, others played tag with their new friends while they waited for the outdoor movie to start. All came together for a paper plane competition, hosted by Barry, one of our residents. It quickly became a very serious game, with parents and grandparents opting in to prove who was superior at the fine art of paper plane making. There were two clear winners, both from the same family so it must be a genetic trait! Nevertheless, everyone had quite a bit of fun and learnt a thing or two about how best to build one’s paper plane.
The outdoor movie screen roared to life as the sun was close to setting and the children screamed with excitement, racing to get their seat right in front of the screen. The temperate dropped slightly as the film started, but everyone had come prepared. Armed with their blanket, popcorn and ice cream cone, guests settled into their spot for the viewing of a great Australian film.
It was a wonderful evening, with fun had by all. We can’t wait for the next outdoor movie evening at our Carine village!
